When your business internet service goes down, it can be a distressing time. With so much of today's business relying on online services, you are going to do all you can to get your broadband service back online, at whatever cost...
BUT WAIT
Although, time is an important factor when dealing with a business broadband problem it may be worth taking a few minutes to eliminate some more obvious possible faults, first. Many broadband problems, though frustrating, are caused for the simplest reason and it can be just as simple as checking a connection or changing an options setting.
So, before you go splashing on a costly engineering service, why not try our handy broadband troubleshooting tips?
They might just save you a lot of money!
Router Configuration...
Is your router connected properly?
If your router has not been properly configured, then internet problems are likely to occur. You can find a guide to router configuration here--
Ensure your modem is connected...
Check that all of your physical connections are securely in their correct ports and that your modem is working properly. If you have any doubts to this, then turn off your modem, plus any machines on your network, unplug all physical connections and reconnect correctly.
Then turn machines and modem back on, checking that all the modem lights are all green.
Finally, ensure that all equipment attached to the phone line in your property is connecting through a Broadband filter. If any of the following equipment is connected to your line without a filter it can interfere with the broadband reception of your modem:
If you are in doubt as to whether a piece of equipment attached to the telephone line is causing a problem, simply disconnect the item in question and try your broadband connection again.
Possible firewall problems...
If you are having trouble connecting to the internet, then it could possibly be your firewall blocking internet data from coming through to your computer.
You can check if this is the problem by temporarily turning off your firewall, through your PC's internet options.
If after switching off your firewall, you find yourself able to connect to the internet again then you will know that it is a firewall related issue. With the firewall disabled, you may then search the internet for a solution.
REMEMBER.. to switch your firewall back on once you have found a solution to your problem!
