21CN is the global next generation network being introduced by BT. It's aim is to provide a new, more simple range of communication services through its software-driven network, bringing communications into the digital age.
A major factor of 21CN is the combining of analogue and digital telephone lines, so that soon everyone will be on one global network. This will be achieved through the merger of the old copper wires and the more modern fibre optic cables to ultimately provide a better all round service for all areas of communication, including business broadband.
Next Generation Broadband...
To align with the implementation of 21CN, BT has introduced its next generation broadband service - Wholesale Broadband Connect, a service which runs over 21CN.
Wholesale Broadband Connect promises to mark the beginning of a new era for UK broadband, allowing users to enjoy ultra high-speed broadband services, as well as more control and flexibility. The service uses exchanges equipped with ADSL2+ equipment which currently supports up to 24Mbps data speeds.
Unfortunately, at this moment in time, end user's broadband speed is still dependent on various factors, including: distance from the local exchange, electrical interference and wiring issues...
..But there is more to this next generation broadband than speed.
Wholesale Broadband Connect gives the user a greater sense of control and flexibility over their services, with Wholesale Broadband Connect possesing the ability to prioritise data traffic to optimise your level of service, ensuring reliable broadband all of the time!
21CN users also benefit from improved line diagnostics and dedicated line management, should any faults arise.
Wholesale Broadband Connect is currently available in select areas, available to 10 Million households and business sites, through local exchanges.
Ultimately, 21CN is universally improving broadband services for the end user, with speeds ever increasing as the network evolves.
BT predicts that in time, 21CN will enable internet access speeds of up to 10Gbps (Gigabits per second), vastly improving on the average 24Mbps top speed on DSL broadband and 40Mbps top speed on Fibre Optic broadband.
