Are there any phone features that are incompatible with Featureline?
Yes. Call Sign, BT answer service 1571, and Anonymous Call Rejection are all services that will become unavailable on a feature line.
Why must I dial '9' before making outgoing calls on a featureline?
With FeatureLine, your line is provided with a call management system. In order for your features to be enabled, special dedicated equipment is connected to your line at the local BT exchange. It is necessary to instruct the equipment to make an external call and the key to make this instruction is '9'
Can I access the internet over an ISDN line?
It is possible, but not advisable. Years ago, before the introduction of DSL broadband services it was not uncommon for people to use ISDN lines as a faster alternative to dial up internet. But now with DSL broadband, so much faster at affordable prices, there is no real need to do this.
What is the difference between ISDN2 and ISDN30?
The only difference between the two is the number of channels/terminals that each can support. ISDN2 lines can support up to 8 channels whereas ISDN30 can support up to 30 channels, significantly more than ISDN2.
What does ISDN mean?
ISDN stands for Integrated Services Digital Network, it is a type of telephone service that allows for digital transmissions over copper telephone lines.
Once I make the change over to 5G, how long will it take for my services to become active?
When signing up new customers, we generally quote between 7 - 14 working days for analogue lines and between 10 - 25 working days for digital lines.
What should I do about leaving my current provider?
We want to make your move over to 5G as quick and as painless as possible so we will strive to help you as much as we possibly can to ensure that leaving your current provider isn't going to break the bank.
Will I save money with 5G
Yes. If you sign up with 5G, we guarantee to save you at least 10% on your current bill.
If I decide to join 5G, but am already with a provider, will my current provider charge me for termination of the contract?
Possibly. Generally, if you leave a provider part-way through a contract, you will be required to pay off the remaining number of months left on your specific contract.
"What if I have already paid line rental in advance to my previous provider?"
If you have already paid line rental in advance then it might be worth contacting your previous provider as, depending on your contract, you may be entitled to a refund of some of the money you have already paid.
Can I keep my current business phones, after changing over to 5G?
Of course you can! Once the change over has occurred you can continue to use your current business handsets, just as before.
I currently use cable, can I continue to use this after signing with 5G?
Unfortunately, 5G currently can only offer services to customers with available BT lines. But we are pleased to announce that we will soon be able to provide fibre optic broadband services, with speeds of up to 40Mbps.
How much money can I save by switching over to 5G?
5G can save you at least 10% on your current bill, so you'll always be better off with us.
How will I receive my bills after I have signed up with 5G?
You will only ever receive one bill as we take over both your line rental and any call plans, making easy reading for you. As of March 2010, we will be providing electronic billing, via email. Customers can still opt for traditional paper billing, but it will be at an extra cost of £1.50 per month.
What are the next steps after signing up with 5G?
Shortly after you sign up, you will receive a confirmation letter and a welcome pack containing details of your new plan, call charges and monthly payments. You will then receive a letter providing the date that your services are due to start. This process normally takes up to 28 days.
