Can I keep my existing number(s) if I change service providers and sign up with 5G?

Yes, in most cases we will be able to take on your existing landline number, helping you to save costs and maintain business continuity.

Can virtual numbers increase the number of "out of area" enquiries I receive?

Absolutely, the great thing about our virtual numbering service is that it gives you the opportunity to have local presence in areas throughout the country. With a "local area" number, you are far more likely to attract business from areas that perhaps would not consider you simply by looking at the area out of which you operate

Can I divert my virtual number for whenever I am out of the office?

Yes, your virtual number is pointed directly to your office landline number and so will automatically follow the same divert pattern that you currently employ. So if you are out of the office and have diverted your landline calls to your mobile, your virtual number will divert there also.

How do Virtual Numbers work?

Virtual numbers work by pointing your desired "local geographic number" to your actual office destination, allowing you to have presence anywhere in the country even with just one local office.

What fees will I have to pay for my number?

If you choose to take up a number with us, there is a good chance that you won't have to pay anything for your number as we make our money from a percentage of the kick-back from your calls. However, if you require a golden number then there will be a charge for use of the number.

I want a memorable number for my business, do 5G offer memorable numbers?

Yes. We have a large selection of memorable, or Golden numbers available for your business. Have a look through the Golden Numbers section of our website to find out more about this service. (Note that there will be a charge for the use of any golden numbers)

How long before my number is activated?

As long as everything has been agreed and ordered, generally numbers become active the very next day. However, if your order is fairly complex, for example if you were looking for a memorable number, the process could take slightly longer while we strive to find the best available number for you.

How do I get a new number?

Easy. Have a look through the numbering services that we currently offer on the numbers section of the website, then give one of our dedicated advisers a call to help choose a number that will suit your business.

Will my old numbers be affected?

Only if you decide to change it for another geographic number. Otherwise, your existing telephone numbers will continue to work just the same as they always have.

What costs are involved in running a number service?

For the majority of numbers, there will be absolutely no charge to your company, as 5G is able to take a percentage of your customer's call charges. However, there may be charges applicable for pointing virtual numbers to your existing landline number. Learn more about Virtual Numbers

Can I twin any mobile device with my desk phone?

Yes, with our systems the 'Follow Me' feature means that when your are away from your desk, your number can be routed to your mobile or DECT phone at no additional cost to the caller.

What is a non-geographic number?

A Non geographic number is a number which is not recognisable to a specific geographic location and usually starts something like, 0870 or 0845. Businesses use non geographic numbers for several reasons, each beneficial to the company, e.g. some can generate revenue, some are free to call for customers etc.. Businesses also use them to give themselves an aspect of anonymity, thus creating an image of a large scale company. For more info, refer to the Non Geographic Numbers section of the website.

How do non-geographic numbers work

Non geographic numbers will work just like your existing landline number. You just tell us where you want the destination of your non geographic number to be and 5G will route it to your geographic landline number for you. Non geographic numbers also give you a range of options that you wouldn't get from a landline number, such as a choice of extra extensions which can be routed to the same number, giving customers the impression of different departments, regardless of your company's size.

How do I receive calls from my virtual number to my actual geographic number?

When you set up a virtual number you can specify where you want your phone calls routed to. For example you may select a 0845 number and have it automatically routed to a London '020' number. For more information visit our Virtual Numbers or Managed Inbound service page
