Ever since the announcement of 21CN by BT, there has been significant questioning of its capabilities and how it will affect businesses' current communications.
Whilst we wish to inform you about what to expect and the benefits of 21CN, we would also like to dispel some of the myths and legends that have surrounded 21CN since its conception.
So, without further adieu, here are the myths of 21CN, revealed...
Broadband speeds...
One of the most commonly asked questions about 21CN is: "Will 21CN improve on my current broadband speed?"
Though, it is true that the arrival of 21CN will see generally improved broadband speeds, it is not 21CN, itself, that will cause the faster speeds. In order to benefit from faster broadband speeds, you will have to take advantage of the 21CN compatible line, Wholesale Broadband Connect. Currently available at selected exchanges, users of Wholesale Broadband Connect can look forward to stable, constant speeds that will carry out across all lines from the local exchange.
SDSL and DataStream...
As part of the 21CN roll-out, certain broadband products will not be transferred over the the new network. Both SDSL and ADSL DataStream products will eventually be discontinued... But don't panic!
All DataStream connections will stay connected and active right up until the last exchange has been made compatible for Wholesale Broadband Connect, which could not be until 2012. The future of SDSL is not so clear as BT have not made any immediate plans for a 21CN SDSL product, though sources suggest that SDSL products are in the pipeline, so existing SDSL lines could be replaced, yet.
ISDN...
The 21CN roll out will not see the end of ISDN services! Actually, BT are already in the process of migrating all ISDN services over to the new network, so you won't lose out on your ISDN products!
Incompatibility Issues...
Many businesses have expressed concern at the compatibility of their current products, with 21CN...
We are pleased to be able to inform you that sources suggest that there should be little difference in compatibility, though all products currently incompatible with ADSL will remain incompatible with Wholesale Broadband Connect.
Broadband access without phone service (Naked DSL)...
BT have confirmed that they will not be pursuing a Naked DSL product at this time, stating that there is not enough demand for the product. So, broadband access without a phone services, will not be available with 21CN.
If you are still unsure or have any further questions on the 21CN roll out, please don't hesitate to call us as one of our expert team will be more than happy to guide you on the matter.
