What is IP Telephony?

IP Telephony stands for Internet Protocol Telephony, it enables the transferring of voice signals over the Internet, wide area networks (WAN), or local area networks (LAN). IP Telephony uses VoIP (Voice over IP) to create data packets from voice transmissions to transfer them across a network.

With IP telephony, can I move around the office while on a call?

Yes, you can move around the office as much as you like. Just make sure to stay within the coverage area of the phone, ensuring that your IP address is valid within your location.

Where can IP handsets be used?

IP handsets are for use within the office and throughout the workplace. They offer the user high quality voice communication, without excess call charging.

What does VoIP mean?

VoIP stands for Voice over Internet Protocol. VoIP allows the end user to make voice calls over the internet, rather than traditional telephone lines, bringing about the eradication of additional call charges!

What is Follow-Me?

Follow-Me is a telephone system application that allows your callers to contact you on your office number, wherever you may be. Using a call forwarding feature, you can now be reached through a single landline number, whether at home, around the office or on your mobile. The advantage of follow me is that it functions at little extra cost to the caller, even if calls are forwarded to your mobile.

Am I obliged to inform callers that their call is being recorded?

Only in instances where you intend to share the contents of a recorded call with a third party. Unless this is your intention, you are under no obligation to inform the caller of any call recording.

What is CTI?

CTI stands for Computer Telephony Integration. It allows for the management of your business telephone system through your office PC. With CTI, you will be able to manage calls, keep call records, answer phones through the PC and more.

Is 21cn going to cost me any more?

No. 21CN is the upgrade of BT's network, a scheme that has been put in place to provide BT customers with a better all round service. So in short, your services will improve but you won't have to pay any more for the pleasure.

What will be different about the next generation network, 21CN?

In previous years, BT has developed and maintained a wide range of communication products and technologies, traditionally completely separate from the majority of their other products. 21CN will provide a single platform for future BT products, that will run in line with its current product portfolio, enhancing current services. To put it briefly, it's a good thing!

How can a phone system save my company money?

It really can. With the advancements in business telephony technology, today's telephone systems are equipped with many advanced call management features. So, where in the past you may have employed an assistant to keep track of your calls, take messages etc, now your telephone system can do it all for you.

Why does my business need a phone system?

As your business grows, so does the need for more efficient call handling. Investing in a phone system will be a necessity once your business requires two or more phone lines, for efficient business communication.

Can 5G features and accessories be used on any type of telephone system?

Yes, many of our accessories and features are available, cross platform to our range of telephone systems.

What happens to my IP system in the event of a disaster?

If you benefit from two sites with IP capability, it is possible to have the majority of your calls failover to your second site if one site goes wrong

Do my LAN switches have to use Quality of Service (QoS)?

Yes, VoIP and IP enabled handsets benefit from QoS to ensure your voice data quality remains high whenever you are on a call. Data transfer shouldn't be too badly affect, it might just take slightly longer.

Must my LAN switches support Ethernet power to enable IP handsets?

Not necessarily, if your current network doesn't support Ethernet powering, we can easily put in another power source for you.
